The 48 DUCK is “flush deck and raised sheer” with just a wheelhouse, no other cabin. That greatly simplifies construction and the only side decks to make are beside the pilot house. Everything else is just plywood over the deck beams. Here’s the framed in side deck using the laminated carlin idea described in BBB (Buehler’s Backyard Boatbuilding, in case the BBB don’t ring no bell…)

Here’s the finished side deck.

Before installing the engine the bilge was painted (I would have used just preservative but many people use paint instead) and a drip pan was installed to keep the engine from messing up the bilge. The tanks are on each side.
