A New “Archie” being built in Sloveia
“Archie” sailing on Lake Michigan
This 43 foot schooner is a very old design of mine but I still like her. You’ll find the plans for free in my book; Buehler’s Backyard Boatbuilding, but, if you buy them you’ll get all the versions drawn, a wood and a steel plan, and any consultation help you’d like. If you don’t buy the plans you don’t get none of that!
Several of these boats have been built in Europe and the US. She’s a big boat, and has lots of living and playing space. The pilothouse sort of robs interior room so some people leave it off; it all depends on what you want.
These photos below are from that fine British magazine “WATERCRAFT.” The guy who built this boat did her on a real budget; I believe he’s into it only $18,000 and that includes the rent at the boatyard he built her in. She’s a little rough but she looks great, and from what I hear they’re having a ball playing with her.
